Using movement, music, words, reflection, and sharing, Essential Motion returns
us to the natural wisdom of our bodies.
In childhood, we express the natural ease and spontaneous playfulness of
our authentic, unique selves. Our minds may forget, but our bodies remember.
Karen Roeper, in her original and inspiring work, Essential Motion, reconnects
us with the body as our source of aliveness, creativity, and wisdom. Watching
us move, Karen's perceptive and compassionate eyes observe where our bodies
are stuck and where they are free.
Through gentle probing, suggestions, directions, and coaching, participants
explore our psychological resistance and emotional limitations. By guiding
our bodies to a place of internal listening, Karen helps us discover and
remember how we long to move. In this deep dialogue between the body and its
expressive movement, we dissolve the body's unconscious holdings and move past
the constraining beliefs of our lives. We find the courage to express who we
truly are.
Through Essential Motion, we gain access to our true source of wisdom, the
body's intelligence. As we inhabit our bodies more fully, we move through our
days with ease, power, and grace. We free our true selves and are able to move
wholeheartedly and powerfully towards our vision, goals, and dreams.
Karen explains: "I have a deep belief in the wisdom
of the body and the rich, heartfelt quality of life that is available
to us when we dwell within an enlivened body. There is a power that comes from
contacting the self on a visceral level -- a power that leads to an opening
of the heart and a return to who we truly are. When we experience the alive
body, we feel our hearts and are able to express our true selves. I facilitate
this transformation through movement -- the forgotten language of the soul."
Karen teaches Essential Motion to individuals, groups, and organizations.
